Lisa’s Miracle: How a Simple Act of Kindness Saved a Family

Lisa sat on the couch playing with her two-year-old baby Ibrahim when Sherry, Care 4 Needy Copts’ representative, knocked at the door. Lisa lives in a one-room house with her son.
Lisa’s husband, Girgis, had been in a fatal car accident two years ago while she was pregnant with twins, and right there, Lisa’s world shattered in an instant.
Her son, Ibrahim, was born healthy, but his twin sister, Mariam, was too weak to survive. Lisa had barely been able to grieve Girgis before she had to say goodbye to her daughter.
Left alone with a newborn and no source of income, Lisa spiraled into despair, and every day felt like a battle she wasn’t sure she could win.
In May 2022, a knock on the door changed everything.
Sherry, with a warm smile on her face, visited Lisa. She introduced herself as a Servant from the Shepherd and Mother of Light SM Service.
“We heard about your situation from a local servant,” Sherry said gently. “We’d like to help.”
Lisa was hesitant at first. She had never asked for charity. But Sherry assured her that this wasn’t a handout but a hand-up.
Through the C4NC Family Sponsorship Program, Lisa began receiving monthly financial support. It was enough to buy what was needed for her and her newborn son. In 2023, the service also arranged for a team to renovate her bathroom. The first time she stepped into the newly fixed space—clean, safe, and warm—Lisa broke down in tears.
But it wasn’t just about money or repairs. Sherry and other volunteers visited regularly, bringing groceries, needed supplies, and—most importantly—friendship.
Loss had taken so much from her, but kindness of the SML servants had given her a second chance. And for the first time in a long time, Lisa believed things would be okay.
